Common Questions About Equipment Appraisals

How long does a tractor or combine appraisal take?

Most appraisals are completed within 5–7 business days from the time we receive your machine details and photos. If you need the report sooner (for financing or auction deadlines), let us know upfront and we can prioritize your submission. Appraisals requiring in-person inspection may take an additional 2–3 days depending on your location.

What information do I need to provide?

We'll need the machine make, model, year, and current hours or condition. Photos of the overall machine, engine compartment, and any wear or damage help us accuracy assess value. If you know the intended use—estate settlement, equipment financing, trade-in—include that too, since fair market value can shift based on purpose.

Will an appraiser inspect the machine in person?

For most valuations, we work from photos and machine specs you provide, which keeps costs down and turnaround fast. If the valuation exceeds a certain threshold or the condition is unclear from images, we may recommend an in-person inspection. We'll discuss that option with you before proceeding.

Can your appraisals be used for equipment financing?

Yes. Our appraisals are USPAP-compliant and recognized by agricultural lenders and equipment finance companies across the Midwest and beyond. Lenders are familiar with our methodology and reporting standards, so the appraisal typically moves through their underwriting process without questions.

What if my equipment is old or specialty machinery?

Age and specialty status don't disqualify an appraisal—they're exactly the kind of machines we value regularly. Older tractors, vintage equipment, and regional or niche machinery require appraiser experience and access to historical pricing data. That's where our team's depth in the market matters.

Is the appraisal defensible for IRS or legal purposes?

Our appraisals follow USPAP standards and are built to withstand scrutiny from the IRS, courts, and insurance carriers. We document our methodology, comparable sales data, and reasoning so your report holds up if it's ever questioned. That defensibility is built into every appraisal we deliver.
